Junior Choir Song Lyrics

I like the flowers
I like the flowers, I love the daffodils,
I like the mountains, I love the rolling hills,
I like the fireside when all the lights are low;
Boomtiara, bbommtiara, boomtiara, boom.

I like the fresh air, I love the birds that fly
I like the horses, I love the clear blue sky
I like the summertime, when all the flowers bloom.Boomtiara, bbommtiara, boomtiara, boom.

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Wim-o-weh, o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,

In the jungle
The mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle
The quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight

Wim-o-weh, o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,

Near the village
The peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village
The quiet village
The lion sleeps tonight

Wim-o-weh, o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,

Hush, my darling
Don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight
Hush, my darling
Don't fear my darling
The lion sleeps tonight

Wim-o-weh, o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,
o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,o-wim-o-weh,

Land of the silver birch
Land of the silver birch, home of the beaver,
Where still the mighty moose wanders at will,
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more.
Hi hiya hiya, hi hiya hiya, hi hiya hiya hiya.

Down in the forest, deep in the lowlands,
My heart cries out for you, hills of the north.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more,
Hi hiya hiya, hi hiya hiya, hi hiya hiya hiya.

There where the blue lake lies, I’ll set my wigwam,
Close by the water’s edge, silent and still.
Blue lake and rocky shore, I will return once more,
Hi hiya hiya, hi hiya hiya, hi hiya hiya hiya.

Kookaburra
Kookaburra sits on an old gum tree,
Merry, merry king of the bush is he;
Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra,
Gay your life must be.

Hello to all the children of the world
We live in different places from all around the world
We speak in many different ways
Though something might be different we’re children just the same
And we all like to sing and play

Hello to all the children of the world
There’s children in the deserts and children in the towns and,
Children who live by the sea.
If we could meet each other to run and sing and play
Then what good friends we all could be

Y6 Graduation Song

I'm gonna need you to raise your glass
I don't care what you put in it
Here's to days that you can't take back
We work hard but we love to laugh

We all thought that we'd get rich fast
Hop the plane out for greener grass
Found out that life goes fast
Nothing compares to the friends that last

See, we won't forget where we came from
The high school won't change us
We beat to the same drum
No, we won't forget where we came from
The high school can't change us
We beat to the same drum, the same drum

(Hey) La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah
La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-doe
(Hey) And no matter where we go
We always find our way back home
(Hey) La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah
La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-doe
(Hey) And no matter where we go
We always find our way back home

So here's to the fun memories,
School buses and cute buddies and
People who had your back when
The world didn't understand

See, we won't forget where we came from
The high school won't change us
We beat to the same drum
No, we won't forget where we came from
The city can't change us
We beat to the same drum, the same drum

(Hey) La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah
La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-doe
(Hey) And no matter where we go
We always find our way back home
(Hey) La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah
La-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-dah-doe
(Hey) And no matter where we go
We always find our way back home

Musician of the Month - May

The Musician of the Month for May is none other than Ludwig Van Beethoven.

Beethoven was a German composer and pianist.

Beethoven's first music teacher was his father.
His best-known compositions include the Fifth SymphonyMoonlight Sonata, Adelaide and Egmont Overture.

By the age of 26, Beethoven began to lose his hearing.

Some of his most important works were composed during the last 10 years of his life, when he was quite unable to hear.

Here is the familiar "Ode to Joy" which was actually a part of his 9th symphony.
You probably have also heard "Fur Elise."

Here is a video of many of his most famous works.

March Musician of the Month

This month's Musician of the Month is Igor Stravinsky.

Igor Stravinsky was a Russian composer, pianist and conductor.
Stravinsky was born on 17 June 1882
He was raised in St. Petersburg by his father, a bass singer named Fyodor, and his mother, Anna, a talented pianist.
He is widely considered one of the most important and influential composers of the 20th century.
Stravinsky's compositional career was notable for its stylistic diversity.
Three of his best known works were The Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911) and The Rite of Spring (1913).

Below you can find two videos of Stravinsky's "Firebird Suite." The first video is Stravinsky himself conducting the piece and the second video is Disney's adaptation for the movie Fantasia.

Last, here is a short video from the ballet that was so new and strange-sounding that it cause a riot at its first performance.
